Getting There

Paga is at the northern tip of Ghana, approximately 170 km north of Tamale and 25 km north of Bolgatanga, the Upper East regional capital. There is no rail or air connection.

From Accra, shared taxis and buses run to Bolgatanga (the most common approach) — the journey takes roughly 12–14 hours. From Bolgatanga, trotros (shared minibuses) and taxis run regularly to Paga, a journey of about 30–40 minutes on a good road. Navrongo, 15 km to the south, is another common transit point.

If you are coming from Burkina Faso, the Dakola border crossing is right at the edge of Paga, making it a natural first stop in Ghana when entering from the north.
