The Dondoli Mosque is another fine example of Sudanese-style mud-brick construction in the villages surrounding Wa. Like Nakore, it has the characteristic earthen towers and projecting wooden poles of the West African Sahelian mosque tradition, though each local version has its own proportions and detailing that reflect the particular hand of its builders and the preferences of its community.
Getting to Dondoli requires a moto-taxi or bicycle ride from central Wa, which is part of the experience — the road passes through open savanna dotted with shea and dawadawa trees, with compounds and small farms along the way. The mosque is not heavily visited, and local children will often appoint themselves as guides. A small donation to the mosque caretaker is customary and appreciated.
