The Kenyan coast has two dry seasons (December to March and July to October) and two rainy seasons in between. December to March is hot and humid, with reliable sunshine — the peak season for European visitors. July to September is cooler, drier, and arguably more pleasant, with little rain.
April and May are the long rains and many smaller hotels close. The annual Kilifi New Year Festival at Distant Relatives runs from 28 December to 1 January and books out months in advance.
