The central market in Sanniquellie is small but busy, especially on the main market days when farmers from the surrounding Mano and Gio villages come in to sell rice, cassava, palm oil, smoked meat from the nearby forest, and the local vegetables. It is also a good place to see Nimba-style basketry and the occasional carved mask offered for sale — though serious mask-buyers should be cautious about provenance and authenticity.
The market doubles as the main meeting place in town and as the shared-taxi hub for trips out to Ganta and onwards. The food stalls around the edges are the best bet for a lunch of country chop or rice with palm-butter stew.
