Misurata Port

Misurata Port is one of the most important commercial ports in Libya and the city's economic heart. During the 2011 siege, the port became a lifeline — the only supply route into the city while Gaddafi's forces had the land approaches blocked. Humanitarian aid and weapons for the defenders arrived by sea, and civilians were evacuated through the port. The port area today is a mix of commercial activity, with container traffic, fuel terminals, and fishing boats.

The port area isn't set up for tourism, but the industrial waterfront gives a sense of the city's commercial identity and its maritime connections that go back to the Phoenician era. The corniche along the coast offers views over the Mediterranean and is used by locals for evening walks. The fishing harbour section is the most pleasant part for a casual visit.
