Tsingy de Bemaraha

UNESCO limestone wilderness of razor-sharp pinnacles, lemurs, and dry forest

Tsingy de Bemaraha is not a casual excursion, but it is one of Madagascar's great landscapes. The limestone plateau has eroded into a field of knife-edged pinnacles, crossed by hanging bridges, ladders, and narrow paths that make even a short walk feel like an expedition.

Most visitors reach the park by 4x4 from Morondava over several days, often combining it with Kirindy Forest and the Avenue of the Baobabs. The reward is enormous: lemurs, dry forest, caves, and the strange grey skyline of the tsingy itself. Go in the dry season and expect rough roads.
