The Chintheche Inn is the main established lodge in the area and its beach is one of the most pleasant stretches of sand on this part of the lakeshore. A wide strip of white sand runs along the water's edge, shaded by a few large trees and backed by a quiet lawn. Non-guests can usually use the beach for a small fee, and the bar serves cold drinks through the day.
The Inn dates back to the colonial era and retains a laid-back, slightly faded charm. Accommodation ranges from simple rooms to self-contained chalets. The veranda bar is a fine spot to watch the sun set over the lake — a slow, spectacular affair as the light turns the water from blue to orange to deep red.
Kayaks and basic water equipment are sometimes available for hire through the Inn. The immediate shoreline here is good for swimming, and the rocky outcrops a short paddle offshore are worth exploring by snorkel.
