Kiffa sits on the Route de l'Espoir (Road of Hope), the paved highway running from Nouakchott east to the Malian border. Bush taxis and the occasional bus connect Kiffa to Nouakchott (roughly 600 km west) and Nema (about 800 km east). The road is paved and in reasonable condition for most of the route.
