Calodyne, a small coastal village two kilometres west of Grand Gaube, has a long quiet beach of fine sand backed by casuarina pines. The water is shallow for a long way out — good for children, less good for serious swimming. There is a small public picnic area and a few kiosks selling cold drinks and roti at weekends.
The beach is busy with Mauritian families on Sundays but almost empty during the week. Sunsets from here, with Coin de Mire on the horizon, are excellent.
