La Vanille Nature Park is the easiest wildlife stop from Souillac, set in a humid green pocket inland from the south coast. The headline residents are giant Aldabra tortoises, with crocodiles, iguanas, bats, insects, and small museum exhibits filling out the visit.
It is more managed nature park than wild reserve, but it is good at what it does, especially for families or anyone who wants close-up time with tortoises. Combine it with Gris-Gris, Rochester Falls, or the south-coast villages rather than making it your only reason to come this way.
