The main beach at Larache lies across the estuary from the town centre, reached by a five-minute boat-taxi ride from the port. It is a long, broad stretch of Atlantic sand that stays quiet outside the summer months. The water is cold and the surf can be rough — this is the open Atlantic, not the Mediterranean — but the beach itself is fine for walking and the setting, with the estuary on one side and the open ocean on the other, is dramatic.
In July and August the beach fills with Moroccan families from Larache and the surrounding region. Outside that period you may have it largely to yourself. Bring what you need — there is little infrastructure away from a few summer cafés.
