The largest cactus farm in Africa — a 9-hectare working nursery 15 km north of Marrakesh, founded by the German engineer Hans Thiemann in 1960. The fields hold over a thousand species, from low spreading prickly pears to giant cereus that tower above visitors. Open to the public most weekday mornings (call ahead); guided tours by the family who still run the farm.
