Marrakesh's great square of storytellers, snake charmers, and nightly food stalls open until midnight

The main square of the medina and a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage site — one of the great public spaces in the world. By day it is a market of juice and nut stalls with acrobats and musicians; by afternoon the snake charmers and storytellers take over; by night it transforms into an open-air restaurant with dozens of food stalls serving harira, merguez, and grilled meats by firelight. The square is not primarily a tourist spectacle — most of it is aimed at Moroccans — which makes it all the more worth experiencing.
