Tinmal lies on the P2014 road between Marrakesh and Taroudant, roughly 100 kilometres southwest of Marrakesh by road. There is no public transport that goes directly to the site; the most practical options are a rental car or a negotiated grand taxi from Marrakesh. You can also pick up a local bus from Marrakesh's bus station heading toward Talat N'Yaaqoub and ask to be dropped near Tinmal, then walk the final stretch — but this requires patience and flexibility.
Many visitors combine Tinmal with a longer journey over the Tizi n'Test pass, entering from Marrakesh and emerging at Taroudant (or vice versa). This makes the detour feel less like a detour and more like the main event. Petrol stations are sparse on the pass road; fill up in Marrakesh or Taroudant.
