The Catholic cathedral of Pemba sits on a low rise above the western edge of the city, a modest 20th-century building that serves as the seat of the Diocese of Pemba. Its white facade and twin towers make a useful landmark, and the steps in front give a wide view over the Baixa down to the harbour.
It is not architecturally extraordinary, but Sunday masses spill out into the surrounding streets and are worth catching if you are in town for the weekend.
