Quiver Tree Forest

Natural stand of sculptural quiver trees on a farm north-east of Keetmanshoop

The Quiver Tree Forest is Keetmanshoop's headline sight. It is a natural stand of quiver trees, the branching aloe-like plants that look as if they have been planted upside down. Many are centuries old, and their pale trunks catch the warm light beautifully.

Come early or late, not in the middle of the day. The trees are most striking when the shadows are long, and the heat is easier to handle. The forest is on private land, so expect an entrance fee and basic visitor facilities.
