Baleyara is on the main road between Niamey and Filingué, about 100 kilometres north of the capital. Bush taxis from Niamey run regularly along this route and will drop you at Baleyara on request; the journey takes around two hours depending on road conditions and stops.
Traffic is considerably heavier on Thursdays, when traders travel to and from the weekly market. There is no direct public transport to villages off the main road.
