Abuja Arts and Culture Centre

Abuja's main venue for Nigerian art and cultural exhibitions

The Abuja Arts and Culture Centre (also known as the National Arts and Culture Centre) is Abuja's main facility for Nigerian art exhibitions and cultural events. The galleries rotate exhibitions of painting, sculpture, photography, and traditional craft from around Nigeria — quality and interest level varies considerably depending on what's on, but at its best it offers a real window into contemporary Nigerian artistic culture.

The centre also hosts occasional theatre and music performances. If you're in Abuja for more than a day, it's worth checking what's showing. The permanent collection includes examples of traditional Nigerian art forms from different regions — Benin bronzes are represented, as are Yoruba masks and textiles from the north. Entry is inexpensive. The surrounding grounds sometimes host informal craft markets.
