Getting There

Bossaso is served by Bossaso International Airport (BSA), with flights operated by African Express Airways and Jubba Airways to Nairobi, Djibouti, and other Somali cities. Connections to Mogadishu and Hargeisa are available, though schedules change frequently. Book directly with airlines or through travel agents in Nairobi or Djibouti.

By road, Bossaso is connected to Garowe (the Puntland capital, about 200km south) and further along the highway to Galkayo and southern Somalia. The road south over the Golis Mountains escarpment is in reasonable condition. Travel by road requires security awareness and prior arrangement with a local fixer or organisation.

Dhow transport from Yemen and Djibouti arrives irregularly at the port. This route carries significant risk and is not recommended for independent travellers.

Entry requirements: Somalia has no standard visa procedure; entry to Puntland is typically arranged through local contacts or NGO/business channels. Carry documentation of your purpose of visit.
