Amanzimtoti is about a 30-minute drive south of Durban on the N2 motorway — straightforward, well-signposted, and the most common way to arrive. King Shaka International Airport, north of Durban, is around an hour away by road.
Metrorail trains from Durban also serve Amanzimtoti station, though the service is unreliable and not recommended for visitors. Long-distance buses on the South Coast route stop at Toti as well.
Once in town, a car is useful but not essential. The main beach, river mouth, and several of the nature reserves are walkable from any of the central beachfront accommodation.
