Bathurst is compact enough to explore slowly. The Big Pineapple gives the town its absurd landmark, while Bradshaw's Mill and the old settler buildings explain why the village has such an unusual frontier-English feel.
The best visit is unhurried: a look at the pineapple, a walk through the village centre, and enough time to sit at the Pig and Whistle rather than just photograph it from outside.
