Point of Human Origins is the visitor-facing way into the Pinnacle Point cave sites, a coastal archaeology landscape with evidence linked to early modern human behaviour. The caves sit in the cliffs below the Pinnacle Point headland, with the Indian Ocean directly below them.
Access is by guided tour, not casual wandering, and that is a good thing: the site needs interpretation. A visit gives Mossel Bay a depth that most beach towns cannot match, connecting the modern harbour and holiday coast to a much older human story.
