Sandy Bay

Sandy Bay is a secluded naturist beach on the Atlantic coast, reached by a 30-minute walk over the mountain from Llandudno (itself a short drive from Hout Bay). The beach is wide, white, and backed by granite boulders — genuinely beautiful, and usually quieter than the beaches closer to town because of the walk required to reach it. Swimming is possible but the Atlantic is cold here throughout the year, and the surf can be strong.

The track from Llandudno is well-worn and easy to follow; you scramble over a rocky headland before dropping to the sand. The beach has been a de facto naturist spot since the 1960s, though nudity is not mandatory. The walk back up in the afternoon light, with the peninsula coastline visible in both directions, is as good as the beach itself.
