World of Birds Wildlife Sanctuary

World of Birds is the largest bird park in Africa, housing over 3,000 birds across around 400 species in large walk-through aviaries. The collection includes both indigenous South African species and exotic birds, and the scale of the aviaries — some large enough to walk through with free-flying birds — makes this a very different experience from a conventional zoo enclosure.

The monkey park section adds marmosets and squirrel monkeys to the mix, and a feeding session is included in the entry price. It's unashamedly aimed at families and school groups, but it's genuinely well done — the aviaries are spacious and the birds look healthy. It's easy to spend two to three hours here, and it works well as a rainy-day option or a half-day add-on to the harbour and Chapman's Peak.
