The Ezulwini Handicrafts Centre along the MR103 is the best place in the valley to buy Swazi crafts. The selection is broad — hand-dyed textiles, hand-woven sisal baskets, soapstone carvings, wooden figures, ceramics, and jewellery — and the quality is generally higher than the smaller roadside stalls. Prices are negotiable and most vendors are experienced at it; a reasonable opening offer is about 60 percent of the first price asked.
The centre brings together work from workshops around the country, giving it a range you will not find in any single craft studio. It is worth taking your time here rather than rushing through. The best Swazi baskets — tightly coiled with geometric patterns — are among the finest craft objects made in southern Africa and are worth buying seriously if the quality is right.
