Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral

The Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Assumption is the most prominent religious building in Manzini, its whitewashed facade and twin towers visible from much of the town centre. The cathedral was built in the mid-twentieth century and serves the Diocese of Manzini, which covers most of the country.

Inside, the space is simple and well-lit, with local craftwork visible in some of the fittings. It is open to visitors outside of service times. For a country with a strong Christian majority (over 85% of Swazis identify as Christian), the cathedral is an important community institution.
