Puthia Rajbari

Puthia Rajbari is the grand house at the centre of Puthia's temple town, about a day-trip distance from Rajshahi. Built in 1895, the palace mixes colonial mansion proportions with Indo-Saracenic details, facing a broad open ground that makes the whole complex feel ceremonial.

It is best visited together with Puthia's Hindu temples, which are the real reason to make the trip. The palace itself is weathered, but the scale and setting still give a strong sense of the zamindar world that shaped this corner of Bengal.
