Malay Technology Museum

The Malay Technology Museum is the most accessible of the Kota Batu museums, focusing on traditional crafts, tools, and techniques of the Malay world. Displays cover boat-building, weaving, metalwork, agricultural tools, and traditional fishing methods — the practical knowledge that sustained communities on the Brunei coast before the oil era.

The museum is particularly strong on traditional boat construction, with several full-size vessels on display explaining the different hull types used for river travel, coastal fishing, and open-sea trade. It is lighter in tone than the Brunei Museum and works well as a complement, particularly if you are travelling with children or have limited time for the denser historical collections.
