The road north of Anlong Veng climbs into the Dangrek Mountains, with broad views over forest, fields, and the border country. The ride is often the most memorable part of the Khmer Rouge sites circuit, because the scenery is beautiful and the history is grim.
Go with local knowledge and do not treat the hills as open walking country. This is a border area with a history of mines, military tension, and sudden changes in access.
