A French colonial ensemble grouped around a small park: the 1890s Hôtel des Postes, the former police commissioner's residence, the long-defunct Banque de l'Indochine, and several merchants' houses. Most of the buildings are listed and have been carefully restored, giving the square a coherent feel that has otherwise largely been lost in central Phnom Penh.
The post office still functions, which means you can buy stamps inside a working colonial building. The neighbouring streets contain some of the city's better cafés and a couple of design-led boutiques. Quietest in the early morning before the traffic builds.
