The central market of Ban Lung is one of the most unusual in Cambodia — a low corrugated-iron building and open stalls where every morning the hilltribe people of Ratanakiri (Tampuan, Kreung, Jarai, Brao) bring forest produce in to sell: wild honey, mountain rice, river fish, baskets of unfamiliar greens, freshly slaughtered jungle pig.
Go early (around 6–8 am) when the market is at its busiest and the women still wear their traditional indigo wraps. The textiles section at the back sells handwoven hilltribe cloth at a fraction of the price you'd pay in Siem Reap.
