Bright Moon Garden, or Haoyueyuan, spreads along the eastern shore of Gulangyu on the Xiamen-facing side of the island. Its paths, seaside rocks, and pavilions lead toward a large statue of Zheng Chenggong, the Ming loyalist and maritime commander better known outside China as Koxinga. Visit for the coastal setting as much as the monument, especially when the light is clear across the water.
