Xixi Ancient Village is a preserved riverside settlement on the west bank of the Hanxi River. Founded in 1489, it still has around 200 Ming- and Qing-era buildings, giving visitors a clearer sense of Dongguan's older village fabric than the modern city centre does.
The appeal is in wandering the lanes and looking at the old houses, ancestral halls, and waterside setting. It is best for travellers interested in architecture and local history.
