Sanpo Temple, also known as Tianhou Temple, stands in Weizhou's South Bay. The present building is a reconstruction, but the site has a longer history: the earlier temple was built in 1732 and was tied closely to the island's fishing community.
Local fishermen still come here to pray for safe journeys and good catches. It is a modest stop, best combined with the south-coast scenery and the island's volcanic shoreline.
