Getting There

Taijiang has no airport and no direct train station, which is part of why its villages have retained their character. The approach from Kaili takes about 90 minutes: high-speed rail to Kaili South station (35 minutes from Kaili), then bus east along the Qingshui River valley to the county seat (about an hour, ¥15). Buses run several times daily. From Guiyang, the journey via Kaili takes around two and a half hours total.

Within the county, local minibuses connect the county seat to villages along the river valley; the schedule is irregular and involves waiting, which is consistent with the pace of the place. Taxis are available from the county seat for trips to specific villages.
