The Yalong Bay Shell Museum, near the central Yalong Bay Plaza, holds one of the larger private collections of marine shells in China — several thousand specimens from the Indo-Pacific, with displays that emphasise the variety of cone shells, cowries, and gastropods found around Hainan.
The labelling is mostly in Chinese with some English, and the presentation is showy rather than scientific (a chandelier made of nautilus shells, a wedding-photo backdrop), but it is a pleasant air-conditioned hour on a hot afternoon. Combined tickets are available with the small butterfly garden next door.
