Wangkou (汪口) sits at a river confluence on the southern edge of the Wuyuan area and is one of the larger and more intact heritage villages in the region. The ancestral hall at its center — the Yuqing Hall (俞氏宗祠) — is considered one of the finest surviving Huizhou ancestral halls in China, with a three-courtyard plan, elaborate carved beams, and original stone foundations that give the building an authority absent from the more intimate family compounds. The carving quality throughout is exceptional.
The village is less promoted on the standard tourist circuits than Likeng or Xiaoqi, which makes it less crowded and more rewarding for architecture enthusiasts. The riverside setting and the ancient stone bridge across the tributary stream are worth the visit independently of the ancestral hall.
