Getting There

Tai'an sits squarely on the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway line, and the easiest way to arrive is by train. The Tai'an high-speed station (Tai'an Nan) is about ten kilometres west of the city centre and a metered taxi runs in twenty minutes; bullet trains from Beijing take about two hours, from Shanghai about three and a half. The slower old-line station is closer to the city but served by ordinary trains only.

By road, Tai'an is on the G3 expressway between Jinan and Qufu. Long-distance buses connect to most cities in Shandong. Once in town, local buses 3 and 4 link the railway stations, Dai Temple, and the Mount Tai trailheads — the most useful route for visitors.
