The Polaris Museum of Watch Culture covers the history of Yantai's clockmaking industry, which began here in 1915 with the Yantai Baoshi Clock Factory. The displays are niche, but they give a useful industrial counterpoint to Yantai's treaty-port and wine history.
Come if you enjoy specialist museums or want to see a less obvious side of the city. The old Polaris brand is still associated with mechanical clocks, quartz clocks, and precision timing equipment.
