Beichuan is not a conventional tourism destination, and visiting requires some emotional preparation — the main site is a preserved urban disaster zone and the purpose of visiting is to understand and bear witness to what happened there. The two main things to do are straightforward: view the ruins of the old county seat, and visit the earthquake memorial museum.
