Letong Ancient Town is the restored Tibetan quarter on Litang's north side, planned around Renkang Ancient Street and the old-house lanes below the monastery. It is partly polished for visitors, but it is still the easiest place in town to read the local architecture: timber frames, painted details, enclosed courtyards, and narrow lanes made for walking rather than traffic.
