Summer is the easiest season for Litang: grasslands are green, passes are more reliable, and the horse-racing festival is usually held in early August. Weather can still turn quickly at this elevation, so bring warm layers even in July.
Winter is severe and quiet. It can be beautiful, but it is mainly for travellers who know what high-altitude western Sichuan travel involves.
