The Hongge Hot Springs are located in a river valley about 30 km north of Panzhihua city centre, at the confluence of several small mountain streams. The springs feed a series of developed bathing pools that are popular with local residents, particularly in the cooler months when the warm water is most appealing. The springs vary in temperature, with some reaching above 40°C.
The scenery of the valley approach — terraced fields, subtropical vegetation, and the narrow gorge — is part of the attraction. The area is accessible by bus from Panzhihua's main bus station and takes about an hour. Facilities at the springs range from basic communal pools to more developed private soaking areas.
