Canopy Cable Car

The park operates two cable car systems, both offering elevated views across the bamboo canopy that cannot be replicated on foot. The main cable car climbs from the lower park entrance to an observation platform above the canopy line, and the view it reveals — uninterrupted bamboo on every hillside, fading into haze toward the surrounding mountains — is the image that defines the place.

The second, shorter cable car serves the middle section of the park and is useful as a time-saver between the eastern and western walking routes. Both operate year-round, though winter mornings can bring fog that reduces visibility to a few metres. The platforms at the top of each cable car have viewing decks that are worth lingering at — the light changes considerably through the day, and midday harsh sun gives way to much warmer tones in the afternoon.

A story
From the cable car at the right angle and the right season, the bamboo canopy looks genuinely oceanic — a continuous undulating surface of green extending to every horizon, broken only by the folds of the underlying hills. This is where the "sea" in the park's name earns its keep.
