The bamboo sea is 70 kilometres southeast of Yibin, the nearest city. From Yibin's Nanmen bus station, direct buses to the park's western entrance run several times daily and take about two hours. Yibin itself is reached from Chengdu by high-speed rail in around two hours, making a day trip feasible if you start early, though a night in the park area is more rewarding.
From Chongqing, direct buses to the park take four to five hours and are a practical option for travellers on the Chengdu-Chongqing circuit. The nearest major city with hotel infrastructure is Yibin; accommodation within the park cluster around the western entrance gates and is best booked ahead on Chinese holidays.
