A small candlelit bar on Wenhua Xiang, the Mask is the longest-running live-music venue in the foreign-friendly part of Kunming. Local bands play most nights from around 9.30 p.m., with a leaning towards acoustic, blues, and minority-influenced fusion. The room holds about thirty people and fills up quickly on weekends.
Drinks are reasonably priced — local Yunnan beer for 15 RMB, basic cocktails 30 RMB — and the crowd is a steady mix of expatriates, Yunnanese musicians, and curious students from the nearby universities. No cover charge most nights.
