Manting Grilled Fish Stalls

At the south end of Manting Lu, around the park entrance, half a dozen stalls grill whole river fish (tilapia, carp, the occasional river eel) over open charcoal — split open, salted, and stuffed with lemongrass, chillies, and Sichuan pepper. You point at the fish you want, the grill cook weighs it, and it arrives at your table fifteen minutes later along with sticky rice and a sour dipping sauce of lime and chillies.

This is the most authentic cheap meal in Jinghong. Open from late afternoon until midnight. Beer is plentiful and ice-cold.
