South Yandang Mountain is the inland counterweight to Pingyang's coast: a scenic area of ridges, streams, waterfalls, caves, and religious sites around Nanyan. It is less famous than the main Yandang Mountains north of Wenzhou, but it gives Pingyang a genuine mountain day out rather than just a town museum and a park.
Allow most of a day if you are coming from Aojiang or Kunyang. Local buses run part of the way, but a hired car makes the visit much simpler and lets you combine viewpoints, temples, and village stops.
