Hauz Khas Village is Delhi's most fashionable nightlife and dining district, occupying a medieval village enclave in South Delhi. In the 1980s artists began moving into the old havelis; by the 2010s it had transformed into a warren of rooftop bars, independent restaurants, boutiques, and galleries. The medieval tank and ruins of Firuz Shah's madrasa form a dramatic backdrop to the scene.
The rooftop bars overlooking the lake are among the best sundowner spots in Delhi, with views across the water to the deer park. Restaurants range from Japanese and Lebanese to experimental Indian. The village is best explored on foot, wandering the narrow lanes between the ruins. It gets busy from Thursday through Sunday evenings; book ahead at popular restaurants.
