Mutiny Memorial

Mutiny Memorial stands on the North Ridge, a red-sandstone Gothic tower built by the British in 1863 after the uprising of 1857. Its plaques list regiments, battles, and casualties from the siege of Delhi, while a later inscription reframes the site in memory of the Indian freedom fighters who resisted colonial rule.

You cannot usually go inside the tower, but the monument is still worth a stop if you are tracing Delhi's layered colonial history. The ridge setting also gives it a quieter atmosphere than the better-known sights of Old Delhi and central New Delhi.
